In 1995, Cinéma celebrated its 100th birthday. This film, such as a humble and stubborn road movie, let the “professionals of the profession” – as Godard would say – speak, bringing in its wake a set of questions.
Caught between money and industry, the demands of the authors, technical virtuosity, evanescence or physical solidity, the beast is still stirring, as Chabrol says – the cinema will maybe, in the second century, play the part of the trouble-maker in the world of the correct way of seeing and correct thought.
