In Bosnia, in the city of Brcko, Saya Tanic lives like many others in a house that is not her own. A refugee in her own country, this elderly woman lives with the permanent threat of expulsion. In the face of all this, she is stubborn and dignified and continues planting her garden among the ruins, living her life in time with the seasons. The calm of her current home is disrupted by scenes of expulsions, ruins from the war erased by the hard work of the city’s inhabitants and people fighting to bring their fields back to life alongside omnipresent soldiers. The calm is only an illusion and Saya’s story has an open ending: the hope of finally finding a house she will own.
